Julia Besner, MPH, MA, RD, LCT-C
With over 20 years of experience as a Dietitian, I have spent much of my career supporting individuals and families navigating eating disorders, disordered eating, and complex relationships with food and body. I am now continuing this work as a Licensed Counselling Therapist Candidate, bringing together my clinical experience and a deeper passion for helping people understand themselves and their emotions.
I believe you are not broken and do not need to be fixed. You are the expert of your own life and experience. My role is to meet you with compassion, curiosity, and genuine respect, creating a space where you can slow down, explore what is happening beneath the surface, and develop a deeper understanding and connection with yourself.
My approach is grounded in Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Emotion-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT), Existential Therapy, and Nature-Informed Therapy. Together, we can explore emotions, relationships, identity, meaning, and the experiences that may have shaped how you move through the world.
I work with adults and families experiencing eating disorders and disordered eating, anxiety and depression, trauma, autism and ADHD, and the emotional challenges of perimenopause, menopause, and other major life transitions.
At the heart of my work is the belief that healing is not about becoming someone different. It is about finding a path back to yourself—perhaps discovering parts of you that have been lost, hidden, or disconnected along the way.
